What Is the HSK?

The HSK, or Hanyu Shuiping Kaoshi, is an international standardized test designed to assess Mandarin proficiency among non-native speakers. Simply put, the HSK is similar to the TOEFL or IELTS, but for Mandarin. The test is administered directly by a central authority in China, and the results are recognized globally for various purposes.

Why Should You Get an HSK Certificate?

You might be wondering, “Why go through all the trouble of taking the exam?” Here, MinGrow will share some of the benefits:

• Scholarship Requirements: If you dream of studying in China or Taiwan, an HSK certificate is usually a mandatory requirement.

Understanding HSK Levels and Their Corresponding Exams (HSKK)

Currently, the commonly used exams range from Level 1 to Level 6.

How Do You Register in Indonesia?

Don’t worry about the location, because there are already around 35 official test centers spread across various regions in Indonesia. Some of the locations are:

• Jakarta: Such as the Jakarta HSK Committee in Sunter or at Al Azhar University.

• Surabaya: At Petra Christian University and the UNESA Confucius Institute.

• Batam: At Batam International University and Universal University.

• Other cities like Bandung, Medan, Malang, and Makassar also have their own test centers.

To register, you can go directly to the official website at chinesetest.cn. Simply create an account, select Indonesia as your location, choose a test date, and fill out your personal information and upload a photo. Remember, exams are now generally conducted on-site computer-based (you go to the test location but use a computer), since the at-home exam mode (Home Edition) has been discontinued.
